GREAT LAKE SWIMMERS: The Torontonian troubadours make for El Rey with a pocketful of thoughtful folk ballads boasting loads of atmosphere. Since we don't have too many Great Lakes out this way, we'll say it is ideal music for driving the eastern shore of the Salton Sea. Joining the show is The Wooden Bird & Laura Gibson. 8PM
HOLLYWOOD STUDIO COLLECTION SALE: It's the final day of the mega costume sale (not to mention various Tinseltown knickknackery). A peek at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel this week told us this was even mega-er than we had previously thought. And it is going straight to 10PM tonight. $5 admission
WILLIAM FRIEDKIN TALKS "THE EXORCIST": So it came in at #3 (after "Psycho" and "Jaws") on the AFI 100 Thrills List. But we can all agree that "The Exorcist" is mighty scary, and the man who directed it is showing at a screening to chat. It's happening at the Marion Knott Studios at Chapman University in Orange. For serious fans of the flick, it's a must-go event.
