Grizzly Bear
Grizzly Bear rocks the Palladium on Tuesday, October 20th
GRIZZLY BEAR: Plenty of indie bands can gain copious amounts of critical sweetness and fan-produced buzz. Some indie bands can open for Radiohead. And then there's a handful of bands -- we'll count 'em on one claw, even -- who've rocked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. "Veckatimest" is the Brooklynites' latest album. They're at the Palladium at 7PM. KCRW Presents, and Beach House opens.
DISNEY SYMPHONIC LEGACY: And speaking of stirring orchestrations... The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, along with John Mauceri, makes for Disney Hall to play the music of Disney. It all works together neatly. "The Lion King Suite" and "Sleeping Beauty" and a host of films will receive tribute. Snow White fans take note: There's a special salute, complete with on-stage singers. 8PM
BOOK SIGNINGS: A.S. Byatt is stopping by Vroman's to sign "The Children's Book"; Wu-Tang's The RZA is at Barnes & Noble at The Grove to talk "Tao of Wu"; and intuitionist Laura Day advises on "How to Rule the World from Your Couch" at Book Soup.
