HOMAGE TO CLASSIC ITALIAN CINEMA: If you enjoyed the series of modern Italian films recently screened by American Cinematheque, there are two more things to note. First, there are a few more films ahead at the Egyptian, including "The Brave Men" this afternoon. And second, Douglas Kirkland's beautiful Homage to Classic Italian Cinema photo series, created for Vanity Fair Italia, continues through November 27th at the Italian Cultural Institute.

WRITERS IN PERSON: Barbara Kingsolver, author of "The Poisonwood Bible" (and many, many other award-winning books), chats about "The Lacuna" at the Writer's Guild Theatre; it's part of the Writer's Bloc series. Mary Weiland, rock 'n roll wife to Stone Temple Pilot Scott Weiland, talks about her new book "Fall to Pieces" at Book Soup.

"ME AND ORSON WELLES": Film guy Stephen Farber screens the soon-to-be-released flick, and invites director Richard Linklater and star Christian McKay to chat about it. Mr. McKay plays Orson Welles -- a feat indeed -- and Mr. Linklater, of course, was a titan of the '90s indie film movement. You liked "Before Sunrise" and "Waking Life," yes? You'll want to get to the Wadsworth Theatre at 7PM.
