ST. PATRICK'S DAY AT L.A. LIVE: You know you're in for some raucous, holiday-style revelry when a place throws both a daytime party and a nighttime shindig. The later bash will boast boxing matches, in addition to a beer garden, Irish eats, and more. The daytime has music and autos. Daytime party is 11 a.m to 3 p.m., the nighttime to-do starts at 7 p.m.

ANONYMOUS 4: Medieval music gets a lot of play in movies -- think men in armor on steeds -- but few people hear it live. And hear it live in a place like Walt Disney Concert Hall. This famous quartet will be lending their voices to old songs that summon mistier times. The program is varied, and isn't strictly tuned to St. Patrick's Day, but this would be a lovely way to celebrate. 8 p.m.

ALL KINDS OF MARTIN SCORSESE: Cinespace is showing "The Departed"; the holiday bonus is a deal on Jameson (buy one, get one). 7 p.m. Over at the Writer's Guild, scribe Laeta Kalogridis will be talking all things "Shutter Island"; you'll need to call ahead for more info on times/screening.
