The Duke Spirit lands at El Rey on Tuesday, September 1st
THE DUKE SPIRIT: There was a "tour savaged vocal chords" incident that resulted in the weekend Costa Mesa show getting canned. But, good news for Leila Moss mavens and all fans of the blues-rock Brit band: El Rey is still on. KCRW & Goldenvoice present. Break out the tambourine. Break it out and jangle jangle. Band of Skulls joins. 7:30PM, $17
THE 88: The Los Angeles-based popsters kick off their Tuesday-nights-in-September residency at Spaceland. You know them because you've been a fan for years (The 88 has one of the most loyal local followings we've seen; bravo that). You know them from their songs that show up on various TV show soundtracks. You know them, you adore them. 8:30PM, $10
THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU: And he's headed for the GRAMMY Museum for a bit of brassy music-making, a bit of chitchatting, a bit of Tijuana brass-ing and old-school jazz-ing. Herb Alpert -- "Albert" would be the "A" in A&M Records -- was an architect in creating that swinging '60s sound. Any band today with a horn section owes the man some gratitude. GRAMMY-winning singer Lani Hall joins. 7:30PM, $20
