Will your handpicked vacation take you to Machu Picchu?
Yep, we read that recent article about how people get more enjoyment from anticipating a vacation than the vacation itself.
Of course, there's much happiness to be gotten from both the dreaming and the doing. But since it is only March, and summer is months away, we're fully in dreaming mode, which has made going by the Create Your Own Adventure site rather pleasurable.
What it is: Gap Adventures has created a contest that allows people to design a dream trip. Multiple countries are okay; specific landmarks and outings are encouraged. Then, a panel of travel industry experts will select a winner, and if that winner is you, you get to take your trip, and invite a couple of friends.
We'll say two things. Playing on the site has been a lovely diversion from the day-to-day realities, whether we nab our trip or not. And two, if you do enter, be creative. We heard about one person doing a whole spy adventure through the middle of Europe.
What's your theme? Can your trip be built just around a concept, a song, a fruit? Why not? If we built a Southern California adventure, we'd make surf guitar and date shakes the story.
