10/10/10: Ten couples will get engaged at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

Have you been getting the various threads and postings and alerts and texts from friends fascinated by dates and the lining up of numbers and such?

We likely all have been, if we've looked at a shiny screen in the last few days. That's because October 10, 2010 is straight ahead, and the 10-10-10-ness of the day is sending ripples through the people-who-love-unusual-occurrences sphere.

(That same sphere also tells us that this October there are five Fridays, five Saturdays, and five Sundays, also highly unusual. But also highly welcomed by people who run Halloween weekend-only attractions, surely.)

What's happening around LA to mark the day?

Madame Tussauds Hollywood will be open for ten hours -- 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. -- and will offer entry for ten bucks. BUT you must mention the "10-10-10 deal" to nab it.

CicLAvia is opening up miles of LA street for biking and walking and skating. This isn't strictly about the date, but it is happening on 10-10-10, and it is a great idea, so we wanted to make mention.

If you can get over to Las Vegas, 10 couples will get engaged at 10:10 a.m. at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. We're thinking that "10" may be a lot of people's lucky number of the day thattaway.

And the LA Times mentions the environmental focus the 10-laden day has taken on. Read more about what's going on here and elsewhere.
