Knott's Pays Tribute to the Military

Military members, "past and present," receive free admission through Jan. 6.

A flurry of events and specials and promotions often springs up around Veteran's Day, the better to honor those who serve and have served.

But Knott's Berry Farm? They go beyond a single day. They even go beyond the month. In fact, the annual Military Tribute at the park, which also includes Fire and Police Recognition Days, extends over the last sixth of the year. That's pretty notable, and what the tribute days involve is pretty notable, too: free admission.

"...Veterans or current serving military personnel and one guest with proper I.D." can get into the Buena Park theme park through Jan. 6, 2013 (the promotion just kicked off at the start of November). And if the honoree wants to arrive with more than one friend? Additional companions, up to six people, can purchase admission at a discount ($19 through Nov. 21, $25 after that).

Happening almost concurrently are Fire and Police Recognition Days. Those start on Thanksgiving and run through Jan. 6. Same deal -- one active duty responder and a guest can get in free, and up to six extra guests can purchase admissions for twenty five bucks.

If you can't make it over the holiday, but plan a visit in 2013, check out the new attractions headed for the longtime OC play place: Coast Rider, Surf Glider, and Pacific Scrambler are all set to debut next summer.
