Grab your running shows and head for the desert. Hundreds of runners and walkers are expected on El Paseo in Palm Desert on Thanksgiving Day for the annual Turkey Trot.

The 5-kilometer race, which is sponsored by the Desert Cities Track Club, is set to start at 5 a.m. on Nov. 26, city spokesman David Hermann said.

El Paseo will be closed between Portola and Ocotillo avenues during the race. Ocotillo Avenue between El Paseo and Shadow Mountain Drive will also be closed.

Motorists were urged to use alternative routes.

More information is available by calling the Desert Cities Track Club at (760) 564-3501.
