When a museum or institution stays open late for a special event, quite often the night is built around something happening there.

But the Aquarium of the Pacific has created an evening devoted to us, or specifically, the photographers among us. On Sunday, January 31st, the Long Beach fish-a-terium will be keeping late hours for people who want to see the sea life through a lens.

This is a big deal for photographers. If you're one, and you've tried to take snapshots at the aquarium, you know there is some jostling around the crowds to be done. And then -- someone's noggin taking up most of your perfect picture.

Photographers Night is such a popular event that the aquarium just extended it by an hour. It's happening from 6:30-10PM, and you'll want to reserve your spot pronto. Cost is $23.95.

And bonus: Not only has the Aquarium of the Pacific teamed up with a local camera shop on free lens-lending, but there will be professional lights set up around the building. Finally, you'll get that shark pic you've only tried for a hundred times.
