The promise of a free lift ticket may be all the incentive die-hard skiers need to head north this weekend.
On Friday, Mammoth Mountain will celebrate one of its earliest openings ever. As part of the promotion, lift tickets are free. As for the rest of the weekend, there are other equally enticing promotions.
The slopes open at 8:30 a.m. and go until 4 p.m., according to mammothmountain.com.
Mammoth is the only resort open in California this weekend, according to its Twitter feed.
