Stroll and Sightsee, Earlier

Huntington Gardens

Camellias are blooming in the Huntington's Chinese Garden.

No surprise that there are a lot of people humming around the Pasadena area this week.

They're out at Bandfest, and they're watching the horses, and they're admiring how the Tournament of Roses floats come together. They're also looking, like locals are, for fun, get-moving ways to fill the days off work.

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens has a solution. The Gardens normally open at noon on weekdays, but they'll be throwing open the doors at 10:30AM every morning through December 31st. Normal admission applies.

The Gardens are closed New Year's Day. But then, you'll be over at the parade, yes?

Word from the Gardens is that early camellias are all a-bloom. And over in the Desert Garden, those camera-ready, oh-so-crimson aloes are sprouting up.

You still have family in town? You've got a place to go earlier in the day. Pretty aloes. Pretty nature. Relaxing.
