QUEEN MARY TREE LIGHTING: In the past few years, the Long Beach landmark has generally gotten the glow going closer to the middle of the month. But the seasonal switch is getting flipped tonight, the first of December, for those who like their holidays to last all month long. General admission is gratis after 4 p.m., and there's a toy drive to boot. Get details, and dress for brisk weather.
GRAMMY NOMINATIONS CONCERT LIVE! Tonight is certainly one of the bigger nights in all of Grammydom, and the lead-up to the noms will be appropriately rocking. Train is playing at Club Nokia; there will be on-stage hellos from Stevie Wonder and Dave Grohl and a bevy of well-known presenters. The Grammys will actually happen on Feb. 13, 2011, but no one is saying you can't get a bit worked up right now.
JON ANDERSON: If seeing Roger Waters rock out "The Wall" at Staples either last night or the night before has you in a proggy state of bliss, best keep the feeling going with a visit to the Orpheum tonight. Mr. Anderson was in Yes, yes, and also widened the way for other musicians looking to make guitar tracks bigger and wider and brimming with ideas. 8 p.m.
