WTF FESTIVAL CONTINUES: The performance calendar traditionally goes quiet around Thanksgiving, but this multi-week extravaganza in support of The Actors' Gang keeps on keepin' on. There's a Johnny Cash tribute on Friday night, and then HuDost, a global beat-infused collective from Montreal, is on stage come Saturday, November 28th.
DESIGNER HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR: The annual lamplight celebration is coming up the weekend of December 5th-6th, but you can take a peek at the Heritage Square homes that have been gussied up in glorious period style. The decorated homes debut on Friday, November 27th; see them weekends, Fridays through Sundays, through January 3.
LOSCON: You're a through-and-through science fiction aficionado. You live in Los Angeles. Are you always in town for Thanksgiving? We're guessing yes, thanks to LOSCON returning over the holiday weekend each year. There will be writers, there will be artists, there will be costume opportunities. Of course. It's at the LAX Marriott on Friday, November 27th-Sunday, November 29th.
FILLMORE & WESTERN CHRISTMAS TRAINS: They start chug-chuggin' this weekend. There are not many things that fill the heart with holly like the thought of an old-timey car decked out for the season. North Pole, Dinner with Santa, the New Year's Eve train, take your pick. Eye the whole schedule before laying tracks.
HOLLYWOOD SIGN HIKES: We spied this over Yelp-way and thought it looked like an ideal (and no-money-needed) post-Thanksgiving outing. The upshot: Hoof it to our city's most famous sign with a park ranger. There are two days, the 27th and 28th. Note that this is an "intermediate level" hike.
