TASTE OF ITALY WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL: San Antonio Winery feels like it might be tucked into some hillside in Umbria, so it is the fortunato setting for an pasta-and-grapes celebration. Five rooms are opening up for the party, it's three hours, it's $50, and we're getting in a marinara mood right now. Sunday, October 18th, 2-5PM

PICO ART WALK & CAR SHOW: Toodle down one of LA's best boulevards -- yeah, we said it -- and take in galleries, people-watching, and bites. It's from 10AM-5PM on Saturday, October 17th. You know the Franklin Avenuers made Pico the setting for a past Great Los Angeles Walk? Because it is a dilly of a street. Go enjoy.

MONSTERS OF FOLK: The rare tour name that cracks a smile. So props, Monsters of Folk, otherwise known as Conor Oberst, M. Ward, Jim James, and Mike Mogis. A Portland pal who just saw the show said it is husky. As in big. As in long. More sweet songs than can fit into your brain. The site confirms it. If you always want more, more, more from your concerts, you're gonna get it. The Greek, Sunday, October 18th.

MUSIC FROM THE CITY OF ANGELS: If you missed that "Star-Wars"-y superstar Mr. John Williams at the Bowl a few weeks back, you've got another chance. But note: No "Cantina"-esque songs this time; rather, the movie composer is taking on canciones with a connection to LA. "Sunset Boulevard," "Chinatown" and more. Less Luke, more local. Props. October 16th-18th, Walt Disney Concert Hall

DEPOT DAY: Mid-October puts us in an old-timey mood. The pumpkins et al. Now one of our favorite Los Angeles museums is opening up for a mondo toot-toot to-do. The place is Travel Town, it calls Griffith Park home, and it is a fine spot to spend a fall day. Lay tracks for the park on Sunday, October 18th from 11AM-3PM. And, it's free. Free!
