Woofstock 90210

Rescue groups and pup-loving celebs make for the BH.

Every dog event seems to sport a charming play on an established word. In Woofstock's case it comes in its very name -- we think you know the word it is playing on -- but there's a second riffed-on term to delight in, if you delight in such things: It is happening at Wiggly Field (which just happens to be located at Roxbury Park in Beverly Hills).

It's cute, yep, but it is an important event, too, so let us not think the Sunday, March 11 event will deliver only charm. There's a dog adoption fair at the heart of the annual waggers-welcome to-do, and Operations Blankets of Love will be on the grounds (bring an old blanket to give to a shelter or rescue group).

When you aren't cuddling with a potential new fur buddy or donating blankets, you can take in a few lawn bowling lessons, watch the pet parade (that'll be Shari Belafonte in the lead), or, wait for it, watch the Old English Sheep Dog Parade.

We don't mean to love on one breed to much, but if you are going to throw a single-breed parade, the Old English Sheep Dog seems the perfect candidate. Can you picture a dozen of them together? Snap, snap, snap, shall go the cameras.

Woofstock is free, but bring cash; there will be food trucks and doggie products for sale.
