Your job: Decide to get out of town and fast. Our job: Help you find where you're headed. This week, NBCLA's Worth the Drive takes us to...

Hotel Del Sol: The San Francisco stay-over is part of the Joie de Vivre group, which is both based in the Golden State and committed to "handcrafted" hotels. The Hotel Del Sol's particular handcraftedness comes courtesy of the on-property hammocks, the hot hues, and affordable rates.

About that "affordable" part: Weekdays start at $129. For the Marina District. In San Francisco. Right? We like see a "1" at the beginning of that number.

Nearby the hotel: On Saturday, March 20, a special sweetness will be simmering close to the Del Sol: The San Francisco International Chocolate Salon, at the Fort Mason Center. This isn't a situation where a few so-so cocoa bars are thrown on a card table, no sirree. There will be some 80 companies/geniuses who make chocolate edibles for a living, on the ground, talking to you and making you taste chocolate delights. An advance ticket is $25, which you'll be able to completely do, given that your Hotel Del Sol rate will be reasonable.

Other Joie de Vivre offers: The group has a whole bunch of fine springtime specials going on, including a few at its Southern California properties. Hotel Erwin, Hotel Maya, and Hotel Angeleno all have packages going. We like the complimentary bean plant part.

San Francisco: Friends? Friends. We're all friends. We think outsiders like to make much of SF-LA bickering because they're jealous of both of us. And why shouldn't they be?
