An "Alice in Wonderland" costume exhibit debuts at FIDM on Thursday, May 27.

If you've been to Disneyland in recent months, you've likely seen numerous guests wearing giant Mad Hatter hats. The Johnny Depp Mad Hatter hats, all red screwy curls and brocade-y flair.

The costumes from Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" clearly connected with people. Now those costumes, and several drawings for the Colleen Atwood-designed costumes, are going on display on the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising downtown. The show opens on Thursday, May 27 and runs through September 30.

    The exhibit is free.

On show: a goodly number of "Alice" outfits worn by Mia Wasikowska, a Mad Hatter get-up, and the Red Queen's gown, which Helena Bonham Carter memorably flounced about in.

The Disney DVD debuts days after the exhibit opens, on June 1. In other "Alice" news, the 1933 version plays at the New Beverly Cinema on Monday, May 17.

Is too much "Alice" ever enough?
