Not even bankruptcy can keep Kira Plastinina from her American dream— the 17-year-old Russian designer, who infamously opened 12 US stores in quick succession last year, then closed them all seven months later, is reopening two of her locations in LA. We popped our heads into the Robertson Boulevard location yesterday afternoon to find staffers dressing mannequins and merchandising the rails, and they claimed the shop will be re-opening today. However, instead of the 'standard' Kira Plastinina line that was there before, the space will now be dedicated to a new, "premium" collection called Lublu by K. Plastinina. Lublu, which means "I love" in Russian, is marked by higher-quality fabrics and a more sophisticated design sensibility—we spotted pieces like a metallic skirt covered in textured rosettes, colorblocked jersey maxidresses, and several styles of denim.

But for those whose tastes veer towards pleather and sequins, Kira hasn't totally changed her tune. Staffers at the Robertson shop told us that the standard line will also be returning, this time to the Beverly Center. No opening date has been confirmed, but estimates pointed towards a week or two. We've yet to receive an official comment on the comeback, but we'll be interested to find out how this is all happening given the $54 million in debt the company had accrued as of January.
