LA Fashion Week: Brian Lichtenberg Closes COLA On an Electronically-Produced High Note

The Location: COLA Fashion Week at the Lady Liberty Building

The Skinny: It's safe to say that Brian Lichtenberg's aesthetic isn't what comes to mind when you think LA fashion. Part electro club kid, part futuristic tribal warrior, his line owes more to the London scene than that of our own fair city. But that point of difference is why we like him so much.

The Crowd: Lichtenberg is known for throwing some of the most memorable shows of LA Fashion Week, not least because of his vibrantly festooned guest list. From boys in feathered pillbox hats to girls flaunting his most outre creations, it's refreshing to see a crowd that's so obviously having fun with fashion.

The Takeaway: No matter what the running theme, you never really know what's going to come down Brian Lichtenberg's runway next. This season, it could be a holographic leotard or a loosely-woven mohair sweater, a massive headpiece sprouting hair or a sparkly silver hooded minidress, but this scattershot approach is part of his appeal. We thought this season's collection looked more polished and well-constructed than in the past, and, for the first time, spotted a few pieces we could picture in our own wardrobes - like the aforementioned sweater or a long-sleeved dress made up of neutral, patchworked prints. In all, an optimistic end to the week.
