Plus-sized models have been getting a lot of attention lately. There was that a risqué commercial featuring a model in lingerie for Lane Bryant that made headlines. Now, French Elle is getting a lot of notice as its April issue features plus-size model Tara Lynn on the cover.

"I was a size 14/16 in high school, and it wasn't the easiest thing," Lynn told NBCLA.

Lynn says she doesn't want you to feel sorry for her. She is, after all, a working model making a great living and gracing a popular magazine cover.

In the modeling world Lynn's considered a "big girl," a label she doesn't take lightly and one that when she was younger hurt her feelings.

"As a 16, I definitely felt like my weight was holding me back. I was supposed to have these bones protruding from my body and clearly that's not the case, and not the way my body's meant to be," said Lynn.

It's a message she wants every young girl to hear, one of self-esteem and self-acceptance. She says she's proof that loving yourself wins.
