A Food Truck Legend Sizzles On

Over 100 vendors will sizzle up your Saturday lunch.

It's funny now to call something a "food truck party forebearer"; but we're now firmly in the golden age of street food 'round these parts, meaning there was once a day, not so long ago, when events in which food trucks gathered simply didn't happen.

Or the food trucks gathered to support a different event. But today? Food truck festivals happen nearly every weekend, in some shape or form, and many can thank the LA Street Food Fest for paving the way. (Paving the way in delicious sauces and condiments, we imagine.)

Now one of the originators of the food truck party is back to take over the Rose Bowl for a Saturday. That date is July 21 and some 100 vendors are expected to show. Will the edible offerings include deep-fried cheese curds, chicken chimichurri sliders, buttermilk popcorn chicken, cola-glazed Berkshire pork, and churros with caramel dipping sauce? We wouldn't have listed them all here if that wasn't so.

Will there be an old-timey ice cream social? Again, we wouldn't tease. And please; isn't an ice cream social so completely July in theme? Have you been to one yet this month? Time to rectify that.

Is there a Singha Beer Garden? There must be a beer garden. July, Pasadena, etc.? Cold beer will be on hand.

An all-inclusive ticket is available for $45 online.

Thanks, LA Street Food Fest, for showing us all a few years back what the food truck gathering would come to mean. Those epic lines you experienced at your initial get-together were a predictor of things to come, clearly. We'll raise a churro with you at the Rose Bowl.
