Flight Club: It's Rustic Canyon's new sip-and-sup evening. It's happening every Monday night. And the menu? Ever evolving.
The focus: Wines from around the world, and foods they go well with. Simple. The end.
New v. Old Chardonnay: The theme of a recent Monday night. And the dish it was paired with? Apple risotto. We've thought of the word "apple" before, and we've thought of the word "risotto," but for some reason, never together. And now that we've seen them together, we can't stop thinking about them.
Other past tasties: California pinot was highlighted. And pumpkin risotto was featured. Makes us just want to hug autumn close.
Rustic Canyon: The Santa Monica restaurant is one of the leaders of the seasonal-local pack. Are we kicking our toe in the dirt, hands in pockets, over missing the "Outstanding in the Field" nights on October 10th and 11th? Rustic Canyon's Evan Funke was a chef. It was at Wattles Farm. It sold out way, way in advance.
