Jar's Signature Chocolate Pudding -- tried it yet?

Your job: Get to the restaurant. Our job: Help you order. This week, NBCLA's Eat This journey takes us out for...

Jar's Signature Chocolate Pudding: It isn't often a nice-napkin'd restaurant gets known for an end-of-the-meal flourish. And the beautiful, haute-homey spot on Beverly Boulevard is famed for dishes beyond its pudding. (Here's where we blow kisses in the direction of Jar and its kingly pot roast.) Still. If you know Jar, you know this pudding.

dineLA Restaurant Week: Jar is participating. And the reason we're mentioning it, and its famous dessert, is that the restaurant has included the spoon-rich treat on its Restaurant Week prix fixe menu. Which just seems like, so. So thoughtful. And wise, too.

If we ran a restaurant... And thank the last roll in the bread basket we don't -- but if we did, we might be tempted to not include one of our famous plates. Just to see if diners came back, a second time, to try the big number. But we've noticed several dineLA eateries putting all their headline stuff out there. Kudos.

An analogy: It's like. You go see Bon Jovi you want to hear "Livin' on a Prayer," right? And they play it. And you love them for it.

The Pot Roast: Oh, and it is on the prix fixe menu, too.

Back to the pudding: It's got a hefty swirl of creme fraiche. And we can't be the first person to notice that the velvety brown of the sweet is almost the hue of the main room's beautiful brownness.

The price and dates: The Jar dineLA Restaurant Week prix fixe dinner menu is $44; Restaurant Week runs through February 5th, skipping Saturday, January 30th. And the pudding will be available at Jar after Restaurant Week ends. As will the Pot Roast. As will the brownness. Happy.
