PASADENA— David Haskell has been mostly off the radar since Bin 8945 shuttered back in Jan '08, but we hear that he's making a comeback sooner than later. Apparently Mr. Haskell has been working on a project in the Pasadena vicinity, more details to come. [EaterWire]
SANTA MONICA— Food GPS broke the exciting news that Josh Loeb and Zoe Nathan of Rustic Canyon and Huckleberry plan to open a small-batch ice cream parlor in the Brentwood Country Mart come chillllly January. The spot will serve 12 seasonal-driven ice cream and sorbet flavors in addition to ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cakes, milkshakes and root beer floats. [Food GPS]
MID-CITY— NYC's Magnolia Bakery will open at mid-January at 8389 West 3rd Street. Construction is about to begin and B+S recently spotted some fresh signage now up in the windows. [B+S]
