Ever wish your child could appreciate the fine tastes of foie gras? Well, they might not become Tom Colicchio overnight, but this summer they can dine out like a true connoisseur.

From June 27 to July 3, Orange County kids have the chance to participate in the first ever Kids' Restaurant Week. Making restaurant week a family occasion, foodies of all ages can enjoy some of the best restaurants in Orange County for incredible deals. While restaurant week usually features prix-fixe meals for lunch and dinner, the Kid’s Restaurant Week will also offer family-style portions and some restaurants are even throwing away the kid’s check – allowing young foodies to eat for free!

Just because it’s for the kids, doesn’t mean Restaurant Week is changing the taste level. No PB&J for these guys, some of the trendiest OC eats are offering up child-friendly menus that infuse their culinary aesthetic but don’t chase the youngsters away.

A hip raw food restaurant in Costa Mesa, 118 Degrees, is known for attracting the adventurous and health-conscious. The kid’s three-course lunch, which consists of a Sweet Berry Salad, choice of Baja Tostada or Pesto Mushroom Roll with Caramel Cheesecake bites or Chocolate Mint Ganache bites for dessert, is a creative way to get your kids to eat fruits and veggies.

For a list of the over 40 participating restaurants, check out the web site at KidsRestaurantWeek.org.
