KieranTimberlake LivingHomes in Long Beach

advertisement

Amidst all the bad news in the world of prefab design, comes a little good. Almost a year after the collaboration was announced between Steve Glenn's LivingHomes and Philadelphia-based architecture firm KieranTimberlake to design a prototype for an expandable, sustainable prefab home, it's here. Quite literally. The showcase home has been assembled in front of the Long Beach Performing Arts Center (it was featured in last week's TED Conference) and will be open to the public starting today until February 21st. The 2,068-2,275 square foot home (depending on the configuration) features three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths and is designed to have a low carbon and ecological footprint. The home is for sale (including the finishes and fixtures) for $499,950. View of the Performing Arts Center fountain not included.
