Yesterday's chatter about how tumbleweeds are blowing through the Building & Safety Department (in downtown) prompted some discussion that the downtime may be prompting more code enforcement sweeps. Some more gossip about the Building & Safety Dept. to report (a sentence we never expected to write in our lifetime): A reader writes, "Yes, building permits are down, and yes, they are sending out inspectors to do code enforcement "sweeps." Planning cases are also way down but management has assigned advance/long-term planning tasks that went undone the last few years to fill the extra time." [Curbed InBox]
