Surfer Freeth Getting Head Back: A bronze bust of legendary...

advertisement

A bronze bust of legendary surfer George Freeth is still missing more than a month after being stolen from Redondo Beach (it's believed it was stolen for its metal value), but with the financial backing of a local businessman, the daughter of the late artist who created the mold plans to make a new bust of Freeth. "Luckily, the original mold is still around. Owned by the Redondo Beach Historical Commission, the mold has been in the city's historical museum all these years." The Daily Breeze previously reported that plans were being considered to create another statue. [Daily Breeze; image via paper]
