While one of nation's busiest airports canceled hundreds of flights and the East Coast is expected to be battered with rain, sleet and snow, Southern Californians welcomed winter heat on Tuesday -- and it’s only going to get warmer.

By Thursday, Los Angeles will be breezy with temperatures in the 80s.
Not so back east.
A massive winter storm is punching its way toward New York, with as much as 3 inches of snow and slush coming down starting Tuesday.
The worst that LA can expect are the 15 to 25 mile-per-hour winds expected to dance through the Hollywood Hills Wednesday morning, getting up to 35 miles per hour by Thursday.
By Thursday and Friday, Los Angeles is expected to have clear skies, with beach temperatures getting up to the 80s and waves ranging from 2 to 4 feet.

“Glad I put the top down on the jeep! Gonna enjoy this week and weekend,” Steve De La Riva tweeted to NBC LA’s Elita Loresca.
A few clouds will roll in starting Saturday night, but temperatures will still be fair in the upper 60s and 70s.
The major winter storm will sweep in from the east, affecting midwestern states -- and Californians trapped in airports elsewhere.
“Of course it will be this nice because I am in Denver and it is 19 degrees,” said Debbie Darrell Keim, a native Californian, on NBC LA’s Facebook page. “I'm stuck on this plane cause no planes are moving.”
NBC 9 News in Denver reported that it was 19 degrees at the airport there, with up to 4 inches of snow expected.
