Tuesday will be sunny and warm before a slight cool-off for the remainder of the week in anticipation of rain expected to hit as early as Friday.
"Another round of record-breaking temperature readings; winter heat wave continues across Southern California," said NBC4 meteorologist Elita Loresca.
Expect temperatures in the high 70s and possibly low 80s for much of Los Angeles on Tuesday. Winds will range between 10 and 20 mph.
Heat records were set Monday for Burbank, Camarillo, Fullerton, Ontario and Santa Ana. The same cities could tie or set new records again Tuesday, Loresca said.
Downtown Los Angeles tied a record high of 81 degrees on Monday, and could do so again Tuesday. The current record for Jan. 22 is 84 degrees.

Residents of the Antelope Valley can expect temperatures in the 60s, while the Santa Clarita Valley should see temps in the mid-70s.

Highs will start to drop Wednesday ahead of a storm system moving in from the Pacific Northwest.
"We're going to hold off on any rain showers here until Friday, and possibly through the weekend with another storm that arrives," Loresca said.
Most of Southern California will have a 20 percent chance of rain Friday, and a 30 percent chance on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
