Puss in Boots in Fighting Trim for First Star Turn

"Shrek" may have closed up shop with its fourth and final installment, but you haven't seen the last of Puss in Boots, who's getting his own feature-length film in the fall of 2011.

The aptly titled "Puss in Boots" stars Antonio Banderas as the voice of our hero, as well as Salma Hayek (who'd've guessed?) as Kitty and Zach Galifianakis as Humpty Dumpty. The film will center around Boots' plan to steal the goose that lays the golden egg.

Our first look at Puss and Kitty comes by way of the film's official website, which also serves up this synopsis:

Puss In Boots -- one of the most beloved characters of the Shrek universe -- tells the hilarious and courageous (daring, bold, brave) tale of Puss's (Antonino Banderas) early adventures as he teams up with mastermind Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifiankais) and the street-savvy Kitty (Salma Hayek) to steal the famed goose that lays the golden egg.

Sounds like a prequel to the "Shrek" saga, which means that morbidly obese kitty didn't actually hit the gym, he's just reminiscing about the good ol' days when he wasn't a goink.
