Ricky Gervais Dismisses “Office” Rumors

Making his way down the red carpet, Ricky Gervais found himself face-to-face with Hollywood rumormonger Ryan Seacrest, who wanted to know the future of "The Office."

"Who would be your pick as the creator and executive producer of 'The Office' to step in for Steve Carrel?" asked Seacrest. Carell has announced that the upcoming season will be his last on the show.

"I think Ed Helms would be great, I mean, they've got loads of guys there... I don't think you should think of it as a replacement, you should think of it as part of the narrative that someone gets that job," said Gervais.

Not satisfied, Seacrest followed up by asking if a decision had been made as to the future of Dunder-Mifflin.

"No, no, not at all. And I'm definitely not doing it."

"What about the rumors that you would..." began Seacrest, only to be cut off by a head-shaking Gervais.

"No, no -- I get paid anyway," responded Gervais.

"Why work?"

"Exactly."

Ricky Gervais is no dummy.
