Scorsese's Star-Studded “Hugo Cabret” Cast Adds Pair of Pros

With Martin Scorsese helming not only his first 3D feature, but also his first film for kids, the acclaimed director is taking no chances with his casting, compiling a mindboggling stable of actors for "Hugo Cabret."

Emily Mortimer and Michael Stuhlbarg have joined the cast for Scorsese's adaption of Brian Selznick's best-seller "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," reported Heat Vision. The story centers around a 12-year-old orphan who lives in a train station beneath Paris in the 1930s, where he spends his time trying to revive the robot originally discovered by his late father. The tale was inspired largely the the innovative French director Georges Méliès.

Mortimer's been doing some great work since getting her big break in Woody Allen's "Match Point," but the addition of Stuhlbarg is truly great news. His performance in "A Serious Man" was astounding and the clips we've seen him in from the upcoming HBO series "Boardwalk Empire" show an actor who's hit his stride.

The cast already includes Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen, Sr Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Jude Law, Frances de la Tour, Richard Griffiths and Mathieu Amalric.

"Hugo Cabret" is due out Dec. 9, 2011.
