Sofia Coppola's “Somewhere” Drops a Trailer

"Somewhere," the latest film from writer-director Sofia Coppola, stars Stephen Dorff as an actor holed up in the Chateau Marmot who gets a wake-up call in the form of his 11-year-old daughter, played by Elle Fanning, who shows up unannounced on his doorstep.

The trailer is a mostly dialog-free montage of Dorff transition from full-on layabout mode, to his daughter's arrival to their budding friendship and finally some contemplative moments by the pool. Music from Phoenix, fronted by Coppola's real-life man-friend Thomas Mars, sets a moody tone throughout.

It's been four years since Coppola's third film, "Marie Antoinette," left most "Lost in Translation" fans feeling severely let down. But "Somewhere" finds the filmmaker back on familiar ground -- an actor living in a hotel whose world is turned upside-down by the a young woman entering his life.

"Somewhere" opens Dec. 22. We'll keep you posted.
