“The Lady” Delivers a Trailer by Luc Besson and Poster by Shepard Fairey

Luc Besson has been making films about women who kick butt for more than 20 years, beginning with "La Femme Nikita." His latest directorial effort, "The Lady," features easily his most powerful female character, Burmese activist Aung San Suu Kyi.

"The Lady" tells the story of Aung San Suu Kyi's fight for democracy, her years spent under house arrest and the strain it put on her marriage to Michael Aris. The film, which stars Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis, takes its title from the way in which the Burmese people referred to their champion after the government outlawed the use of her name. It will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

It's hard to get any sense of the film from the trailer, but it's clear that this is likely Besson's most understated film yet. Watch the trailer and then check out the poster by Shepard Fairey below.
