Warners Wants Nolan, Bay or Cuaron to Lead Them Into “The Twilight Zone”

The last time we were treated to a "Twilight Zone" movie, it was split into four segments, each one directed by an A-list helmer, but this time around they just want one huge name. Looking at their wish list, it's hard to imagine in which direction they hope to go.

Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay and Alfonso Cuaron, are the frontrunners, with David Yates and Rupert Wyatt lurking in the offing as dark horse candidates, reported Variety. Looking at this list, Bay's name sticks out like a sore thumb, making it difficult to judge what they're up to, but it's obviously got blockbuster aspirations.

Nolan has made three Batman movies and "Inception" for Warners, so they clearly play well together, but his schedule is a bit tight; Bay's been planning to make his weightlifting dark comedy "Pain and Gain," but could be wooed by a big truckful of money; Cuaron has worked with WB, also, as has Yates, who's been chewing on a couple of tent-pole offers; and Wyatt's calendar appears to be wide open.

Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, John Landis and George Miller each directed a segment in the 1983 film version, each one based on episodes from the original series. It was during the filming of Landis' segment, "Time Out," that Vic Morrow and two child actors were killed in a helicopter accident.

The new film, which is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, would follow one narrative touching on multiple themes from Rod Serling's original series. Serling's life is currently going through the Hollywood meat grinder, as Oliver Stone's longtime collaborator Stanley Wieser is working on a script based on his life.

No matter who directs this, there's gonna be a ton of angry and confused Bella fans that opening weekend.
