Apple Drops the Walls on Design

Apple has been working on its departments collaborating and keeping each other apprised of new developments including the design of its iOS devices.

In the past, the lone holdout of Apple was the industrial design team, led by Jonathan Ive, which relied on its own software developers, according to the Wall Street Journal. The change is that now Apple''s mobile team, also called the "human interface" team, led by Greg Christie is being briefed about design prototypes much earlier.

This means that Ive now keeps the team apprised of new designs and even allows them to vet them, according to unnamed sources. Fortunately, the meetings are called "pleasant and cordial."

However, Ive's design isn't expected to change radically in the next few devices, so the mobile team won't have any extensive workarounds.
