Facebook's Fancy iPad App Gets Leaked

For some reason, the new iPad app that Facebook has been working on can be found hidden in the existing iPhone app. And wouldn't you know it, but people found it.

The app looks appropriately slick for being so long in the making and from such a popular and profitable service. It features a navigation system in the form of a left-side menu pane that can be accessed at any time. It also heavily uses pop-over menu to allow you to multitask, doing things like sending a message to someone without leaving their profile page.

It's all a welcome change from trying to use Facebook via Safari on the iPad, which can often be an exercise in frustration. Why it took so long to build an iPad-native app isn't clear, but at least it appears to be almost ready for public consumption.
