Google Buys Sparkbuy.com

Google acquired a laptop shopping comparison site called Sparkbuy, but won't comment on why it decided to buy the site, it was reported.

While it's obvious that Google could easily integrate the site into Google's inner workings, it's unclear if the acquisition was based on garnering talent or user-interface, according to Search Engine Land. Google will keep the site's three-person team.

A placeholder note was placed on the site by Sparkbuy telling of the purchase and the team's excitement in a cliche-ridden missive:

We are pleased as punch to announce that Sparkbuy has been acquired by Google. . . . There are so many "crazy hard" search problems out there we know it could take ages for us to deliver what our customers are asking for. So when Google showed up and suggested we could work together to turbocharge our efforts, we just couldn't pass it up.

We’re stoked about the opportunity to share our vision for search with a broader audience. And while we won't be offering services at Sparkbuy.com any more, stay tuned for truckloads of new awesome from our team at Google.

The team will be placed in Google's Kirkland, Wash. office where their huge amounts of enthusiasm will undoubtedly be "all sorts of awesome" to the Google team.
