Google Launches an Election Tool in Time for Iowa Caucus

On the day Iowa gets to take center stage, Google is reminding the country that California is the battle ground that all presidential candidates have to ultimately win to be successful.

Just in time for the official launch of the 2012 presidential race, the Mountain View-based search company has launched a new tool for voters to consume everything elections.

Google.com/elections will give voters, journalists and even political campaigns the ability to sort through election information and races by their popularity, issue or by focusing on a particular race.

The site also has a dashboard with trending topics so visitors can keep an eye on what others are looking at and what political issues are heating up.

All the tools on the site are free and available to anyone who wants to use them or customize as they best see fit.

The site is so simple that even those "hillbillies" in Iowa could figure it out.
