LinkedIn Intro Service Nixed After 4 Months

LinkedIn announced it will be shutting down its email service after only four months, according to a report.

The service, Intro, was supposed to connect LinkedIn contacts into the iOS Mail app, but LinkedIn said it was stopping the feature because it wanted to "focus on the most relevant offerings for our members," the Verge reported. Sources say that the real reason was that LinkedIn member weren't exactly clamoring for it.

Security analysts said that users didn't really want LinkedIn reading and changing their email, according to Richard Bejtlich, a researcher at Mandiant. "It just completely breaks the idea that email traffic is going where it should go and no place else," he said told the New York Times.

While LinkedIn assured users it as secure as possible, it looks like users still didn't join the service. LinkedIn will shutter the service on March 7.
