Mark Zuckerberg Goes Pro-Vaccine on Facebook

Facebook chief Mark  Zuckerberg's new online book club isn't supposed to controversial, but his latest selection -- a pro-vaccine book -- seems to show his views on the subject.

"The science is completely clear: vaccinations work and are important for the health of everyone in our community," Zuckerberg wrote about the selection of On Immunity by Eula Biss. "This book explores the reasons why some people question vaccines, and then logically explains why the doubts are unfounded and vaccines are in fact effective and safe."

The book is Zuckerberg's fourth selection for the club and "examines and disarms the fear underpinning the anti-vaccine movement," according to The Verge. A recent measles outbreak infected more than 100 people likely because of parents choosing not to vaccinate their children, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

We don't know if the book was selected because of a recent report of Silicon Valley daycare facilities affiliated with tech companies still having low vaccine rates. Perhaps if those who embrace technology aren't vaccinating their children, there's little hope for those who don't.
