Backlash Against Condoleezza Rice on Dropbox Board Begins

Internet activists unveiled an online petition to remove Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State, from the Dropbox board of directors because of her alleged involvement in the Iraq war, her support of enhanced interrogation and her authorization of wiretaps during the Bush administration.

Rice's appointment was announced by Dropbox on April 9, and the petition seemed to have sprung up quickly (as well as criticism of the decision). Now a growing number of people would like the cloud storage provider to drop her from the board or face a boycott, according to TechCrunch.

The site tells Twitter and Facebook users are to use #DropDropbox to make their objections known and also lists alternative cloud storage services such as Box and Google Drive.

It seems that Internet activism can be created by a vocal minority, likely the same that called for the resignation of Mozilla chief executive Brendan Eich for his financial support to repeal gay marriage. He resigned after only 10 days.
