Writing in the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday, two California law professors, Chris Elmendorf and Ethan Leib, who have studied the state's governance say that voters should be given a choice between a Democratic budget proposal and a Republican one on the ballot.
This style of choice, reminiscent of the game show "Let's Make a Deal" (current host Wayne Brady pictured), would make sense, for a number of reasons. One they don't mention is: by kicking the budget choice to voters, lawmakers would have time to devote to fixing the budget and governance systems that require constant cuts and/or tax increases.
