Bass, Beverages, and Vines

ROCK THIS VINEYARD: Excited for the Johnny Cash Music Festival on Saturday, June 18? Many a pompadoured darling is prepping their Ventura road trip as we type this, and so they should be; the line-up'll be lively, the cars chrome-y, and the Bettie Page enthusiasts looking tres Bettie. But there's a way to get a night-before peek at one of the headliners, and in a totally different setting to boot. Mr. Lee Rocker, bassist extraordinaire, will be putting on a show at Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula on Friday, June 17.

TICKET INFO: Price of admission is forty bucks. We'd also arrive early, since Wiens is in the thick of Temecula winery goodness, and maybe do a tasting (the Wiens tasting room closes at 5 p.m., note). Of course, rocking out near the vines or inside a winery isn't a new trend, but it certain is robust; a New Order cover band played nearby Keyways Winery a couple of weeks back. So what band or artist is next on the grape-close getting down? And are vineyards the superstar venues of the future, thanks, in part, to their dining and sipping potential?
