MUSIC WEEK: Whether you call the scheduling of a well-made announcement synchronicity or good timing or fortuitous planning or what have you (okay, "what have you" is a little boring, so skip that), you can't beat when things work.
Things worked when Outside Lands, the mega gargantuan multi-day music festival that takes over San Francisco's Golden Gate Park each summer, announced its 2013 line-up smack dab in the middle of Coachella Week.
There's a lot of cross-over between the audiences for the springtime desert spectacular and the August, in-city extravaganza; both festivals attract an eclectic buffet of offbeat and headlining acts.
And while finer differences abound, the major differences are that one is inside a metropolis and one is not. So, in short? You did well, Outside Lands, to make the big announcement on Tuesday, April 16.
ON STAGE: The marquee names for the Friday, Aug. 9 through Sunday, Aug. 11 show include Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, and D'Angelo.
There are more stars, many more, as befits a three-day festival. Plus? The wine area, the beer area, and all of the art-filled high jinks Outside Lands so regularly embraces and promotes. Don't really buy that last bit, about art and high jinks?
Don't take our word. Just watch this especially furry announcement video now. (Yep, "furry.")
