SoCal Cinco Celebrations

THIRD AVENUE FEST: About 30,000 people will be making for Chula Vista's Third Avenue for a Sunday full of song and salsa, as well as a salsa-eating contest. The San Diego-close party is turning 14 in 2011, and organizers promise "authentic food from Mexico" as well as a whole host of acts (Todo Mundo brings the reggae at 3 p.m., while Luna Llena's Latin jazz follows at 4:15 p.m.) Sunday, May 8

PLAZA DE LA GUERRA: The Santa Barbara party lasts all weekend long, meaning that if you head for the Plaza or Casa de la Guerra on Saturday, May 7 or Sunday, May 8, you'll find plenty of deliciousness to sup upon, and loads of live music. It's year 20 for the celebration.

BROADWAY BASH: Sunday, May 8 is also the date for the 22nd Fiesta Broadway, which takes place in downtown LA. Ozomatli and the Mexican Institute of Sound are scheduled to be on stage. And the expected attendance? Over a half million revelers.
