A Classic's PGA “Classic”

Bob Hope Classic: The PGA tour, for those of us who aren’t too golf-savvy, is an organization that operates the main professional men’s golf tours in North America.  It’s an event that attracts celebs and sports icons alike.  Since 1960, the Bob Hope Classic just happens to be one stop that is among the most entertaining events on the tour.  Each January, the “Hope” takes over Coachella Valley, perhaps almost more so than the once-a-year music fest, “Coachella,” which is no easy task.  Perhaps it’s because of the celebrity pro-am (professional-amateur), or the five daily 18-hole rounds of competition vs. the Tour standard of four rounds. Exceeding expectations, we like that.

Bob Hope, the classic: For those who don't know the name, Mr. Hope was an American comedian and actor.  He was made famous for his work with the US Armed Forces, like performing numerous USO shows entertaining American military personnel.  He even has a touching art display in his honor right here in downtown San Diego.
