PROJECT DINNER TABLE: The local-fare-loving, Vegas-based collective that travels from unusual spot to unusual spot to put on a fresh and fanciful dinner continues to capture our imagination. Yes, the El Cortez-close location of a recent dinner was intriguing; so was the feast served on Cashman Field (that was "on," not "at"). Now our attentions turn to the next dinner, which is happening on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the historic 5th Street School. It's a perfect setting for early autumn and these back-to-school days.
MGM GRAND SPOTLIGHT: The people wielding the ladles and pans will hail from the MGM for this meal; past dinners have seen chefs from the Bellagio and Renaissance Catering. And the menu for the next Project Dinner Table, as with past menus, is a doozy of delights. The "Heirloom Tomato & Aged Balsamic Push Pop" sends the imagination reeling. The taste buds, too. A ticket is $125, and the night helps out the Vegas Valley Children's Book Festival
